Textures of Transformation
This body of work explores the tactile potential of texture and paint on wood, engaging themes of fracture, resilience, and renewal. Each piece reflects on what it means to be broken—physically, emotionally, or spiritually—while also pointing toward the possibility of transformation. Through layered surfaces, distressed marks, and bold, rhythmic compositions, I investigate how art can embody the process of rising above adversity.
Upon closer inspection, these works mirror the emotional texture of quilted fabrics—where irregular stitching and pieced fragments hold memory, tension, and repair. Just as quilts carry stories through thread and pattern, the surfaces of these wooden panels speak through their marks and layers. They reflect the quiet labor of healing and the beauty found in imperfection, offering a visual language of endurance and transformation.
